Christmas is in the air- walking around the City we can see all those beautiful Christmas light and decorations. Some people or other religious groups do not celebrate Christmas on Dec 25, because they said, this day was not the real birth of Jesus. They were right about that. But does anyone really know the exact birthday of Jesus? No one! For Christian, Christmas is a very important tradition that each believer should really consider observing and celebrating it does not matter what day. Why? Because, we remember the greatest gift of God to humanity- His one and only son Jesus to die for our sin because of His love for His people (You and Me). God does not want anyone to suffer in hell (John 3:16).
A greeting like “Happy Holidays” has replaced "Merry Christmas" for many. In Hong Kong many celebrate Christmas but only few consider it a "strongly religious" holiday. When asked what they looked forward to at Christmas, only few percentage cited religious reflection and worship services. I should say that this holiday just become and ordinary holiday for many.
But I had conviction that we Christian should celebrate it in a meaningful very way. A time to celebrate God’s love and faithfulness for coming to us “Emmanuelle” (Mt 1:23). In view of this amazing love let us response by letting everybody know the name of Jesus. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12). Let the name of Jesus be heard from roof tops, to roads from every believer’s mouth just like what the Angels did.
“And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is [e]Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:9-11)
Believers should not miss to share Jesus love this Christmas. A simple encouragement, a small gift, A prayer. And most of Jesus be shared to all.
One more thing please pray for the upcoming DMM Conference on Jan 17-18, at St Andrews Church. With Pastor Benjamin, Myself, and Pastor Rey, to share on this event. God has given us this favor to organize this event with other Christian Organizations in Hong Kong.
To God be the Glory.
