“ He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”(Acts 16:30-31).
In Acts, Paul answered the jailer “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”It is not God’s promise to us, so we cannot claim this promise and think that once we are saved, our household “will be saved”. Perhaps in fact if we family are not saved and pass away, we will be disappointed. Or perhaps we mistakenly believe that we are saved, as our family pass away have not received Jesus will also be saved. That is wrong.
The above scripture is when jailer opened the prison’s door, prisoners may have run away, the jailer was afraid that the prisoners had escaped and therefore cried out “what can be done to be saved?” Paul’s answer brought the jailer to spiritual level and said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” But for the jailer, he did not understand, he did not know how believing in Jesus can save his household. At that time, Paul explained God’s word to him and his household. Therefore, this scripture is not promise for saving the household, what is more important is listening to God’s word and believing before people can be saved. But I believe this year many believers’ family will believe in Jesus and be saved. Amen!
The heart of God is more than saving a household, He wants millions to be saved, He wants everybody to be saved.
“who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4)
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
Since we have known the heart of God, we can pray according to the will of God. We pray that our household will be saved, not one perish. Please start to pray for each family member to be saved. Pray that they will have chance to listen to the gospel and open their heart to receive Jesus, then they will be saved. Amen!
