Does Covid-19 create a new wave of so-called digital Church? With almost all government has social distancing law or guidelines, limiting Churches gatherings. So many Churches turn to online worship service. Becoming an e-churches. If so, what would be the effect of this to the churches and believer’s life. Would this new wave help transform people into the life God desires or will create a new breed of Christian? Would this be good in the long run. Or deteriorate the Christian standards and values. Does the Scriptures design the church this way? Or the Devil turning us to live selfishly.
The safest way to answer these questions, let us go to the scriptures and discover what the Lord is saying about this. Let us go back to the very beginning the creation. When God created the man – He said it is not good for a man to be alone (Gen 2:18) and woman was created. God place them in the Garden, and God would visit them from time to time. (Gen.3:8). Now let us jump to New Testament.
“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Acts 2:42.
Hebrews 10:24-25 made it clear. “ and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”
So why share this? because I want to remind our people that, It was Gods desire from Genesis to Revelation for us to develop our community and not to neglect the fellowshipping one another. My conviction says, in response to the scripture we cannot replace the real church that meet together into e-church watching in the comfort of your living room.
This time of social distancing that put limits the church gathering. We must follow the government regulations. We do online, this okay as temporary. But when things got better. I would encourage everyone to comeback to church. or meet with your disciple groups or small group together. And study and grow together. God loves fellowshipping. This is a healthy b eliever’s life. During physical fellowship (Church) you can exercise your love, humility, patience, and many other things.
This week we just celebrated Passover and Holy week online – with lack of actual interaction from you all it seems different. To be honest I know, you felt it the difference too. That feeling is healthy, we felt the difference because we are not used to do it online. Problem is, when later you will not feel the difference, become used to it. that means that your perspective change too. It just like telling lies at the beginning you feel so bad, but we you get used to telling lies, you don’t feel any quilt at all. The question Is God happy when you lie NO! That’s why you feel the guilt because you are not used to that. But when you used to lie even you are Christian already, there will be no guilt at all. Because you get used to use Your heart become calloused. But reality, God still not happy when you lie. That’s the point I want to bring. When you get used the online church then you will not have a desire to come and join the physical church…. My prayer this will not happen to all our people, because if this happen you will have a big problem. I said temporary is okay but not for long term.
This resurrection Sunday, Let us all pray that the power of Jesus resurrection will be with us all and help us resurrect our Passion to love God and love others read our Bible, Worship, Prayer , Giving, Serving, obedience and fellowshipping. HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY!
