Standing Courageously Can Begin with Tiny Adjustment and Dealing One Thing at a Time

June 16th is Father's Day, and the church is giving a pair of socks to every father, spiritual fathers, and brothers who will become fathers in the future. This pair of socks has a significance ------ to walk with the Holy Spirit in two generations, to stand boldly for the family and for the church.

Many people encounter problems in their families, churches, lives, jobs as these foundations are out of course, etc. Some of these problems are so big that they err, they are dismayed even at the sign of heaven, they utter all their minds as their worries and fear multiplies, ….works of error….grevious…spoiled…broken…or they run away from them.

Therefore, it is difficult to stand firmly and courageously for the family and the church, and to walk with the Holy Spirit, so difficult that one does not even dare to open one's mouth and dedicate himself unto God. However, while entering the strait gate, as doer of the Word, we can delicately make small adjustment in our life and work to help them meet the great difficulties… and stand up for their families and the Church to consider the cause of the poor, to give delight to our souls, bringing forth good fruit. Have you ever done an experiment?

When a finger was pressed against the forehead of a seated person, the seated person could not stand because the finger prevented the seated person from shifting his center of gravity. If a person wants to stand, of course, he needs to exert force with his legs, but it turns out that before he can exert force with his legs, his upper body needs to be slightly adjusted, that is, he needs to lean forward slightly before his center of gravity can be shifted, and then he can stand.

It is difficult to overcome a major challenge all at once, when we resolve to hear the sayings of Jesus and do them, as a wise man who build his house on rock. ….. we can made small adjustment and deal with one thing at a time in different aspects, and prepare ourselves from the shallowest to the deepest level, so that when we encounter a major challenge, we will be ready to stand up with strength, endurance and perseverance. And we must deal with the challenge whether gradually, or all at once at a sling of stone, and  no matter how difficult it is we must deal with it,  lest we abide His indignation later in life.

I was in charge of organizing Father's Day this year.

When I inquired of  God what I should give as a gift, I received: a two-generation walk, a courageous stand for the family, for the church, and a walk with the Holy Spirit. After ordering the gifts, one day my wife and I saw a store selling durian-flavored ice-cream on the street. I have always stayed away from durian-flavored food, but that day my wife encouraged me to try it. So, I had a cup of it. Although that cup of durian ice-cream did not change my attitude towards durian-flavored food, miraculously, I started to realize that I need to make a breakthrough in my spiritual life a few days ago. Therefore, my wife and I started to wake up early in the morning to worship, read the Bible, pray, and have devotionals every morning (only in rare exceptional cases that we do it some other time). Eating durian ice-cream is not directly related to waking up early in the morning for worship, reading the Bible, praying and devotions. However, since a few years ago, I received a message from the Lord  to make a small breakthrough in different aspects to bring about a major transformation in my spiritual life.

Brothers and sisters, it is difficult but not impossible to be a disciple of the Lord, to take up the cross and follow Jesus every day, to stand firm for the family and for the church, and to walk with the Holy Spirit. We encourage you to try to make adjustment in your life and attitude so that you can get used to making breakthroughs unto God, and that these breakthroughs, from shallow to deep, will lead to maturity in your spiritual life and a lifetime of faithfulness as a disciple of Jesus.
